The Power of Partnerships: Collaboration on Complex Vascular Surgery

The Power of Partnerships: Collaboration on Complex Vascular Surgery

At Coast General Hospital (CGH) in Mombasa, Kenya, EASI collaborates with local partners to address critical shortages and introduce advanced surgical techniques. Our Kenyan partners identify patients with complex surgical needs, and together with visiting EASI experts, surgeons at CGH perform advanced procedures that improve patient care and build local skill and confidence. Milestones include the first subclavian vein to right atrial bypass and the first thoracoabdominal aortic surgery performed at Coast General Hospital.

EASI's collaboration with CGH surgeons focuses on addressing critical gaps in vascular surgery. Together, they have performed procedures that were once unavailable in the region, from the first-ever subclavian vein to right atrial bypass to complex thoracoabdominal aortic surgeries, showing how teamwork and knowledge-sharing lead to extraordinary outcomes.

These procedures do more than save lives; they empower local surgeons by expanding their skills and confidence. EASI's "train-the-trainer" approach ensures the expertise remains local, fostering a sustainable model of healthcare improvement. This partnership is a testament to the power of collaboration in transforming healthcare landscapes.
